From Caged Life to Curated Living: How One Rescue Bunny Found Her Dream Home

Runner is a rescue bunny who had been kept in a cage for 23 hours a day before she and Alexa found each other. Like many rabbits in shelter systems, Runner came from a well-meaning but resource-limited New York City shelter. She was safe, cared for, and clearly loved by the staff—but the confinement was simply unavoidable with limited space and resources.

That chapter ended the day Alexa brought her home.

At first, Runner had more space—a playpen, some cozy rugs, a few toys—but the setup still felt like a compromise. It worked, technically. But not beautifully. It disrupted the flow of Alexa’s home, and more importantly, it didn’t feel like it was working for Runner.

Alexa did what so many bunny parents do: she made do with what was available, layering pet store products in hopes of creating something functional and dignified.

But the truth? Nothing truly fit.

Not the aesthetics of her Manhattan apartment.

Not Runner’s needs.

Not Alexa’s standard of care.

That’s where BINK comes in.

BINK exists to transform bunny ownership from a messy compromise into a lifestyle—one rooted in thoughtful design, emotional connection, and elevated quality. Our pieces aren’t just rabbit-safe—they’re rabbit-savvy. And our customers aren’t just pet owners—they’re curators of a home that honors both their aesthetic values and their love for their bun.

Alexa chose The Bench—our handcrafted, design-forward furniture piece that integrates a hideaway, litter box cover, and feeding station into one seamless form. Made with rabbit-safe materials and minimalist elegance, The Bench was built to blend in beautifully—while quietly transforming the way bunny parents live and care.

Here’s what Alexa had to say just a month after it arrived:

“The Bench is better than I ever dreamed — it has truly changed mine and my rabbit’s living space and made caring for her and keeping things tidy so so much easier. You really thought of everything with this design, and it is incredibly well made and expertly finished. I can’t even believe how nice it looks in my apartment compared to her prior setup. Very worth the wait, and Runner loves it!”

But the change wasn’t just aesthetic—it was emotional.

The Bench gave Runner a dedicated space that made sense. It offered her privacy, comfort, and intuitive structure. And with that structure, something beautiful happened: her confidence blossomed.

“After it arrived, it became clear quickly that she could not only handle being free-roam 24/7, but that her happiness and playful spirit would blossom that way. The Bench offered her some privacy and a clear designated bathroom area, which actually improved her litter habits completely. She didn’t have any confusion or trepidation about going inside—it was very intuitive for her.”

What Alexa created was more than a furniture upgrade—it was a sanctuary.

For Runner, it was an invitation to come fully into herself.

For Alexa, it was a home that finally felt in alignment—calm, intentional, and whole.

And when your space supports both you and your bunny, that’s when the real magic happens.

“Runner is a rescue bunny and had been kept in a cage for all but an hour a day before we found each other… Needless to say the upgrade for her has been major.”

At BINK, we believe our homes should reflect our values. That living beautifully and living ethically aren’t mutually exclusive. That our bunnies—our weird, wonderful, endlessly curious companions—deserve better than “good enough.”

So we make furniture that respects your space, your standards, and your rabbit.

And we do it not just to sell a product, but to lead a movement—a new chapter in rabbit care that’s equal parts intentionally designed and deeply devoted.

To Runner. To Alexa. To every bunny who’s finally getting the home they deserve. <3

Welcome to a beautiful bun-life.
